Obituary of Edward “Teddy” Rodd
In the early morning of July 13, 2022 at Mariposa House Hospice in Severn, cancer died when it lost its host, Superstar Grappler of cancer, Teddy Rodd.
Teddy was a lot of things: a loving soul-mate to Valerie; a proud Daddy to his daughter Dr. Hilary Rodd DVM; a scotch-drinking aficionado to his son-in-law Kyle (Bolyea), a jubilant Pappy to his wee grandson Ainslie, a fun-loving dad to his fur babies Indy and Georgie, and his grand-dog Lenny; a teasing younger brother to Jim (Donna) and Ken (pre-deceased); the youngest (and spoiled) son of Bryan and Effie (pre-deceased); a supportive brother-in-law to June (Tom); a goofy uncle and great-uncle to several nieces and nephews; sales representative extraordinaire to Subaru of Orillia for 21 years; an enthusiastic fan of hunting, fishing, boating, and the outdoors; a reliable, caring friend and neighbour; a jolly Santa who looked and sounded like the “real deal”.
This is what we know about Teddy: if he didn’t raz the snot out of someone, it meant he didn’t like them; he wore his emotions on his sleeve unafraid to express his genuine love for family and friends; he was the life and spark of any get-together; and his favourite, modest claim was, “Nobody out-does Teddy Rodd”.
Although you’ve left us with an infinite hole in our lives, you’ve continually shown us how to live life to its fullest. With joy, we will follow your cue. A special thanks to Drs. Gerard, Kamra, Hekkenberg, and Harmathy and to the phenomenal staff of earth angels at RVH Cancer Centre and Mariposa House. If you so choose, a donation to Mariposa House Hospice would be greatly appreciated by the Rodd family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Edward
