BIRD Maureen nee Mills —

BIRD, Maureen (née Mills)

On July 12, 2022, Maureen Bird passed away peacefully, at the age of 80 years, in West Kelowna, BC. She is survived by Guy, her husband of 57 years; her children Kevin Bird (Mi-Kang Lee), Donna Lessard, and Shelley Bird; grandchildren Chelsea Lessard, Chad Lessard, Mistaya Duhamel, and Turi Duhamel; and siblings Cecily Mills, Patricia Mills, Kathleen Mills, Michael Mills (Nicole), and Wallace Mills (Diane).
Maureen was born in Sherbrooke, QC. She began her career with the CIBC bank in Sherbrooke where she met her husband Guy. They were married on February 6, 1965, and settled in Montreal. From there they moved to Halifax, Ottawa, and Brussels, Belgium.
After retirement, they spent 15 months in Jakarta, Indonesia before finally settling in the Okanagan in 2002. After the children were old enough she worked as a field supervisor in market research and as a medical receptionist.
Maureen loved skiing and camping and enjoyed travelling. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Florin Covaser and the staff at Brookhaven Care Home.
There will be a private graveside service. A celebration of life will take place at a later date, tentatively September 17, 2022.
