Family and Faith were most important to Agnes. She especially missed going to Mass during Covid. She never missed saying her favorite daily prayers and often said the Rosary several times a day in recent years. Agnes enjoyed good health for 90+ years. She was always available to supervise grandchildren at her home or theirs, reading, playing scrabble or cards, watching TV, or just talking with them. She was famous for her afghans and even as her eyesight began to fail she still continued to crochet. She gathered various small collections of memorabilia over the years but most significant was the rocking chair collection that over 40 years grew to 100+ pieces of various sizes. Although never claiming to be a public speaker she became animated when telling the story behind each one.
The family will be forever grateful to the many doctors, nurses, caregivers and especially to the staff and volunteers at Carveth Care Centre for their excellent care and the compassionate understanding that they extended to Agnes.
The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home 63 Garden St. Gananoque on Thursday July 21 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to St. John’s Church Restoration Fund, or a charity of choice, would be appreciated by the family.
