“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die”
– Thomas Campbell
Shirley Kathleen MacPhail (Kelly) passed away on January 8, 2022 at
Eden House LTC facility.
Shirley was born on October 8, 1934 in Apple Hill, Ontario. She was an
Ottawa Valley girl through and through.
Predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John Michael Kelly in 2016 and
by parents William and Isabelle and siblings Dorothy, Patricia and
Sheila. Survived by her brother Claude and sister in law Judy.
Lovingly remembered by her 3 children Sharon (Dean), Sean (Shari), and
Suzanne. 4 grandchildren Meghan, Brad, Caelum and Jamie.
Shirley was a warm and loving mother, grandmother and nurse. Shirley
loved to cook, had an insatiable sweet tooth which we all enjoyed and
always looked forward to her bridge night with the girls. Her lovely
spirit and spark will be greatly missed, especially her flair for
fashion and decorating.
She was a compassionate nurse who graduated from the Hotel Dieu
Hospital in Cornwall, Ontario and finished her career at the Veterans
Hospital in St Anne de Bellevue, Quebec.
The veterans held a special place in her heart.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hospice Wellington, Eden House
and Bayshore Nursing for all the care given to Shirley over the last
years. Special mention to Emee who filled her last 8 years with love
and creativity.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations to Hospice Wellington if desired.
