Obituary
With broken hearts we announce that Jeremy Peters began his journey to the spirit world on July 9, 2022 at the age of 42 years.
Jeremy will be greatly missed by his children Sundance, Jaylin, Jason, George Cruz, Jesus and Jeridan, step-son Jonathan, mother Donalda, brother Wesley ‘Bobby’ (Melanie), sister Randi, aunties and uncles Maureen (Bob), Debra, Sandra (Chuggy), Jennifer (Owen), Barry, Roland (Jackie), Reynold and Dixie (Morris), special friend Tara Hobson, and the mother of his children Lucille Woods, as well as numerous cousins, extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his dad, Errol ‘Wesley’, sister Trina, grandparents Evelyn Peters, Robert Peters, Wallace Meeches, Blanche Olson and auntie Eileen Olson.
Jeremy grew up in Long Plain First Nation, and although he lived in other places throughout his adult life, Long Plain was always home. Jeremy loved his family and friends. He loved spending time at family gatherings, his family’s home cooking, or “Soul Food” as he called it, and he always made sure to take lots of pictures to remember those moments. Jeremy treasured the time he spent doing activities with his children, and planning for their next adventure. Jeremy also loved music, hats and red clothing, and had quite a collection. Whenever you saw Jeremy, you could be sure he would have a friend or family member by his side. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank Chief and Council for their support, and everyone who helped out, including Craig Redwood and Red Horse Drum, the cooks, fire keepers and gravediggers. Also to the community of Long Plain for the ongoing support to our family during this difficult time, and for the people that stopped in to visit, brought food and took part in the healing walk for Jeremy. Miigwetch.
Wake will take place at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Thursday, July 14, 2022 beginning at 4:00 pm. Feast and Service will be held at Long Plain Spirit Lodge on Friday, July 15, 2022 at noon, led by David Daniels. Burial will follow at Dauphin Myerion Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Fontaine, Nelson ‘Nelly’ Bunn, Trevor Meeches, Adam Daniels, Harry Daniels, and Reynold Peters. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Woods, Sheldon Bouvier, Sean Blackbird, Tim Myran, Mervin Meeches, Guy Peters, Greg Myerion, Curtis Meeches, Alvin John Prince, Doug Merrick, Terry Merrick, Matthew Merrick, Sonny Hudson, Sonny Perswain, Patrick Armishaw, Charlton Meeches, Adam Gordon, Cody Gustafson, Johnathan Daniels, Ryan Fontaine, Sequyah Fontaine, Mitchell Fontaine, Nick Courchene, Dallas Courchene, Travis Meeches, Lindsey Assiniboine, Harold Jr. Myerion and Derek Myerion.
