Obituary
In loving memory of Jeremiah Joseph MacInnis, who passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Jerry was born on December 04, 1947 in Inverness, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to parents John Joseph MacInnis and Mary (O’Mahony) MacInnis. They moved to Sydney along with his brothers John, Danny, and sister Kathy when he was a young boy.
He met and married his true love, Rosalie, and they shared a close bond while raising their three sons. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle, and son in law.
Jerry will be remembered for his kind heart, a wonderful sense of humour and many stories of growing up in Sydney with his second family, the Joseph’s.
Jerry had a great love of sports, both playing and especially coaching, as well as cheering on his sons. His support for them was amazing. Their competitive spirit comes from him, and since moving to Alberta, they have enjoyed their weekly football pool and long conversations about sports of any kind, his most loved baseball . Recently he has been teaching his sons his favourite card game, Tarabish, and enjoying a few games with his nephews and in laws.
Jerry had a great love for his extended family. His nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews held a very special place in his heart. He encouraged and supported them in all their endeavours.
Jerry was employed for many years with the Irving’s, Kent Building Supplies and Source Atlantic. He enjoyed his work and made many lasting friendships along the way. He was very well respected by his customers and co-workers for his knowledge, support, and for his jokes that always brought out a laugh.
Jerry made a retirement trip to see his beloved hockey team, the Detroit Red Wings, with whom he was a fan from the time he was 10 years old. He loved music and especially loved to dance, no matter where in Cape Breton the dance was held, there were many stories.
