Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of Hank Pluister announce the passing at his home on July 11, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
Hank was born in Heerhugowaard the Netherlands on March 4, 1938, to Henk and Trijntje Pluister, the seventh child and only son in a family of eight. Hank attended the Lagere Tuinbouwschool of Horticulture, graduating in June 1955.
In 1964 Hank immigrated to Canada to embrace a new culture, language, and country. Starting in Manitoba and coming to central Alberta working in various jobs. In 1969 he joined with Mabel Ironside to begin their life together in Bentley. In 1973 they moved to the acreage on Woodynook road and resided there until his passing. Here he started a market garden and greenhouse, carrying on the business until 2021. His love of the soil and nurturing his plants produced lush crops, especially his cauliflower.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend valuing his faith, family, and friends. He loved the “beautiful” game of soccer, playing on a men’s team into his 40’s. Following his grandkid’s sports and events was a joy for him.
He has left behind Mabel, his daughter Marilyn (Tom) Nolan, his son Steven (Traci) Pluister, and grandchildren Austin (Marissa) Nolan, Thomas Nolan, Hailee, Madi, and Payton Pluister. He is also survived by his sisters Truus, Riet, Janni, and Irene, as well as extended family with a number of nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Woody Nook Christian Reformed Church.
