Obituary of Ted Blaney
Our dear Papa, wonderful dad and loving husband has passed.
Jean-Baptist Telesphore (Ted) Blaney was born on March 11rd. 1926 and passed away in his 96th year on July 12, 2022.
Born in his parent’s farmhouse close to the town of St. Narcisse-de-Beaurivage Quebec. One of 11 brothers and sisters, Ted was orphaned at 3 and raised by his oldest brother and a loving extended family. Heading off the farm at age 16 sometimes with the help of older brothers, he made his way through the lumbering, mining, farming and finally to the construction industry. A member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 27 for 77 years he worked on many commercial buildings in the greater Toronto region.
In Toronto he met his future wife Sophie and was married to her on August 1st. 1953 at St Stanislaus Kostka Church Toronto.
Family members from Quebec and New Brunswick, were always welcome at the home on Emerson Ave in Toronto. Many cousins started their Toronto lives from that home.
Ted was always available to help his brothers and family build or renovate their homes. Family was also often over to have dad repair old furniture or build new pieces. You could always find him in his large carpenter workshop or at the back of the property in his large vegetable garden with that big raspberry patch.
Always the kitchen experimenter, dozens of cookies and pasty were a weekend treat. Saturday breakfast was exceptional with mounds rolled crepes stuffed with home made strawberry jam or pancakes stacked high with butter and always lots of great Quebec maple syrup.
Ted leaves behind his wife, children, 5 grandchildren and 10 great granddaughters!
We’ll miss you Papa but will forever have a smile when we think of you.
A celebration of Ted’s life will be held at a later date.
