Boyd, Francis Gerard, Lakevale.
It is with deep sorrow the family wish to announce the unexpected
passing of Francis, a brother, father, and grandfather.
Francis was born and raised in Lakevale, leaving for a short
time to work in Ontario and also Western Canada in the
pulping industry. Finally, it was with great joy he settled
back to Lakevale where he worked as a lobster fisherman, a job he
loved until heath issues made the choice for him to retire. He was one
of the founding members of the Bluefin Tuna Charter Association in the
Cape George/Lakevale area. He recently received a 35-year service
award from the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary in recognition of his
service over the years. He was a long-time member
of AA. Although Francis had his struggles, he also had many
good qualities.
He was predeceased by his parents Buddy and Terry (Campbell)
Boyd.
Surviving are his sisters: Mary (Steve, Halifax; Dianne
(Merle), and Lynn (Raymond) both of Lakevale; brothers, Bobby (Linda),
Antigonish and Michael (Estelle), Lakevale; son, Jamie (Shannon) and
their children Chase and Avery, Antigonish; daughter, Angela (Chris)
and their children Eli and Gavin, Alberta; special cousins,
more like brothers: Danny Joe Boyd, Allan James Boyd and Carroll Boyd;
special fur babies Cocoa and Kitty and many nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College
Street, Antigonish on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral Mass will be in St. Columba Church Lakevale on Saturday at
10:00 am with Reverend Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the
parish cemetery.
Donations in memory may be made to SPCA, 3504 Granton
