Fenton Hatt
Son of William and Amanda (Hirtle) Hatt and was the second youngest of
11 siblings. H was born and raised in Western Shore. Fenton was
married to Jean for 69 years until she went to heaven of June 6, 2022.
He treasured his son, Jeffery, with all his heart. He was the glue
that held the family together. A strong community supporter of the
Western Shore Fire Department and St. Mark’s Anglican Church,
Martins Point where he was a member for 90 years. At age nine he went
to work as an assistant cook at lumber camps and cooked at exhibitions
for several years. He traveled to Ontario to pick tobacco and also
worked at Dofasco for 2 years. Fenton was a master carpenter building
several homes and cottages. He built and operated the store and
garage, now operated as Richardson’s Garage, in Western Shore
for several years. He was a true gentleman and a very kind soul,
loved by all. A garveside service will be held 3:00 p.m., Monday,
July 11, 2022 at Western Shore Cemetery, Western Shore. Rev. James
Haughn officiating. Memorial donations are requested to be made to
Western Shore Fire Department or Western Shore Cemetery Fund.
