It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jean-Marc Rivest announce his unexpected passing on June 30, 2022 at the age of 72 years.
Jean-Marc will be forever loved and missed by his family; wife Marlys, of 46 years; his devoted sons and daughters-in-law: Christopher (Grace), André (Alison) and Michael (Sarah); his cherished grandchildren: Amélia, Sebastian, Évelyne, Theodore, Carissa and Élodie; brothers: Gilles, Bernard, Christian, Jocelyn, Fabien, and José; sisters: Lise and Viviane; mother-in-law Doris Holth; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, with whom he shared a special bond, as well as his nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Jean-Paul and Marie-Louise, his brother André, and his father-in-law Ralph Holth.
Jean-Marc was born in Westmount, Quebec and was the oldest of ten children. He met the love of his life, Marlys, in 1975 while they were both working in Inuvik, NT. In 1976, they moved to Edmonton and then to St. Albert where they made their home and raised their three wonderful sons.
Jean-Marc had a strong work ethic and was a proud member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union (Local 488) for 40 years. He had many interests and an endless quest for knowledge. Though he faced many health challenges over the past twenty years, he always maintained a positive outlook and his strength and determination were inspirational. Above all, Jean-Marc loved his family, and spending time with family and friends brought him great joy. We will always cherish the many beautiful memories we have of him.
He will be greatly missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, July 15th, 2022, at Connelly-McKinley St Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St Albert.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Rene Wong, Dr. Elaine Yacyshyn and Dr. Elena Liew for their care and compassion over the years.
