John Reuben Friday June 24th 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of John Mark Reuben announces his passing on June 24, 2022 in Thunder Bay, ON, at the age of 28.
John was born February 18, 1994 in Hearst, ON, the youngest of three boys – and for the rest of his life he was his mom’s baby. In typical “youngest child” fashion, he could get away with just about anything, leaving his two older brothers Preston and Blake to take the blame for all the childhood scuffles. He could often be found playing outside, riding bikes, and building forts in the woods with his brothers. He was a skilled fisherman who always strived to out-fish his brothers… he came close, but his brothers just had the wisdom that came with their years of experience.
He attended Geraldton Composite High School and received his G.E.D. He became a firefighter with the Geraldton Community Forest Fire Crew, a career path he was so passionate about. For several summers, he would be flown in a helicopter into the bush, camp out for days/weeks at a time, and control wildfires with his team. He got immense satisfaction knowing he was helping to protect the land and the surrounding residents.
In his spare time, John enjoyed being around family and friends. He was always up for a round of hockey, wrestling, or walking his family’s dogs. He remained close with his brothers by video-chatting many times a week, and they would coordinate online video game playtime. He had a tremendous amount of joy and positivity that he shared with others, and his smile could light up a room and brighten anyone’s day. He will always be remembered as a family man with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his mom and pops Angela & Lanny Trush; brothers Preston (Jessica) Reuben and Blake (Lauren) Reuben; little nephew Elijah; and many close cousins and their families, all of whom he considered as brothers and sisters. He is also survived by his biological father Raymond Taylor and grandparents Daisy Baxter, Zelda Wesley, Lucy Edmonds, and Lawrence Trush.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held in his honor in Longlac First Nation.
