Obituary
Dorothy was a helluva woman. We may, being her children, be a bit biased but she was everything we admire in a human being. She was honest, hardworking, dependable, kind and generous. She was never fake and she couldn’t lie for a damn. She was outspoken about what she believed in yet never spoke badly about others or gossiped (which was troublesome when you wanted to hear about recent happenings). Being the undefeated crib champion of the family, she leaves behind many who will never realize their life goal of winning against her.
Dorothy valued independence and taught it to all her kids. Leaving home in her early teens to work in the factories in Ontario, she grew up fast but enjoyed her experiences and loved being there with her older sister, Shirley. Dorothy spent most of her life working in the service industry. Her positions included manager, server, bartender and yes, sometimes bouncer.
Easy to talk to and a friend to her children’s friends, Dorothy leaves behind her children, Tanya (Pat), Melissa (Matthew), Amy (Mark), Glazier (Christy); her siblings, Mavis (Weldon), Audrey (Cyril), Opal (Arlie), Marion, Mac (Cathy), Angela (Stephen) and her grandchildren, Kyle, Isabelle, Anna, Ivy and Britton.
Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved parents, Leah and Robert; sister, Shirley and brothers, Donald, Hazen, Dwayne, Manson and Edison.
Dorothy had no trouble speaking up when it came to what she saw as shortcomings in this world so, in lieu of flowers, please give to that, which moves you.
Dorothy leaves behind a family who is grateful to have had her in their lives and who is proud that she was their person. We love you mom.
There will be no Public visitation or service at this time.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB
