Obituary of Oswald Joseph ‘Ozzie’ Landry, River Ryan
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Oswald Joseph ‘Ozzie’ Landry, 89, on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in D’Escousse, NS, he was a son of the late Wilfred and Lillian Emily (Bonin) Landry.
Ozzie served in the Korean War from 1950-54. Following this, he moved to Vancouver, B.C. where he was employed with Canada Post for 33 years. Ozzie thoroughly enjoyed travelling, camping and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Rockett-Landry; daughters, Linda Weatherbee, Doreen Landry and Gail Van Den Beld, all of B.C; step-daughters, Tracy (Mike) Corbett, Bedford and Paula (Mike) Raby, Halifax; son, Blair Landry. B.C.; step-son, Glen (Judy) Rockett, Hubley;many grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; special step-grandchildren, Justin Corbett, Enfield, Grace Corbett, Berwick, Aaron Corbett, Porter’s Lake; step-great-grandchildren, Liam and Lucas; close friend, Kenny Rose.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. A Funerl Mass of celebration will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Jim Oliver officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s cemetery with a reception to follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce (downstairs). Donations in his memory may be made to An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.

  1. So sorry to read of Oswald’s passing. Thanks for letting me know by phone. Always appreciated your visit.. He was one of the older cousins that I could relate with….I will miss him. Surely will miss both your visits. Hope you are surrounded by family. Take care, Helen
