Obituary For Arthur (Art) Carl Engebretson
September 24, 1955- June 3, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our brother Art. He passed unexpectedly at the age of 66 in Spirit River, Alberta.
Art was born September 24, 1955 in Canyon Creek, Alberta. The family moved to Spirit River when Art was a young child. He resided in the Spirit River area his whole life unless he was away working with horses.
As a young man he worked on drilling rigs and pipelines in Alberta and British Columbia. He later received his commercial license and went on to work as a water truck driver. His real love in life was thoroughbred horses, he dedicated many years of his life to training and working with horses. He worked at racetracks in Edmonton, Calgary, and Grande Prairie. Horses were his passion and he shared a mutual understanding and respect for them. Although Art was not a man of many words those closest to him will always remember his quiet, honest, and loyal presence.
Art was predeceased by his parents Maurice (Sonny) and Nora Engebretson and his nephew Jonathan Benson.
Art leaves behind to mourn his loss siblings; Bev (Ron) Benson, Coleman Engebretson, Colleen (Ken) Osborne, Darcy (Corrine) Engebretson and Brenda (Ivor) Dreger. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
