Obituary For Charles Wendell Desjarlais
Charles Desjarlais, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 67 years.
Charles was born in Viking, AB, on August 7, 1954. He was raised in Pouce Coupe, BC, and Dawson Creek, BC. He worked for Grimshaw Trucking for 32 years.
He was very independent and would not ask for help. He had a great sense of humor. He loved children and they loved him.
Charles enjoyed playing guitar, and working on his skrol saw making many pictures. Anyone who visited was gifted a picture. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.
Charles will be sadly missed by his wife Olivia; mother Mary; sisters: Mae, Linda, Judy and Cindy; sons Bruce and David; stepdaughter Trena Antoine; grandchildren: Branden (Hannah), Andrew (Jessica), Breanna, Paige, Kaitlynn, Phoenix, and Noah; as well as great-grandchild Ryleigh.
He was predeceased by his father Walter, and sisters Sharon and Debbie.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the first responders and Dr. Martin for taking such good care of Charles.
A Viewing will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 7:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 11:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.). Interment at the Grande Prairie Cemetery to follow (84th Ave and 112th St).
Memorial Donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (17321 108 Ave. NW, Edmonton, AB, T5S 1G2).
