We have lost a gentleman and a gentle man. Ken died on June 14, 2022. Born to Don and Jean on October 31, 1930, he grew up in Spearhill, MB, graduating Grade 11 from St. James Collegiate, Grade 12 from United College, B.Sc. (CE) University of Manitoba, and M.Sc. (CE) University of Alberta.
Apart from 3 years in Tanzania with C.I.D.A., he worked for Manitoba Highways and Transportation, ending his career as Executive Director of Planning and Design. His favourite position was as the first Traffic Engineer in Manitoba and working on the National highway standards.
Ken enjoyed his travels to different countries and experiencing their cultures. He was active in his professional association and church, loved his curling at the Grain Exchange and Granite, his bridge group and his early morning golf at Victoria Beach.
Humble, up-front, and honest, with a quick way with words and a great sense of humour, he lost these to vascular dementia over the past 18 years.
Left to remember him are his wife Dolores, son Mason and his wife Brenda Pruden, daughter Karen and her husband Jim Peters, daughter Jennifer and her husband Warren Owens; grandchildren (and spouses) Veda, Nola, and Simon, Emily, Stephanie, Rebecca, and Katharina, Rachel and Nicole; great grands James, Margaret Anne and Eleanor, Theo and Titus, Elizabeth, Samantha and Jonathan, Oliver, Madeline and Charlie, and Imrie.
Ken loved his coffee, so raise a cup and remember him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
