Obituary
It is with great sadness that we wish to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father & grandfather.
Gary Bray, 81, passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2022, at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice surrounded by his family.
He was born in Sudbury on November 20th, 1940, to Evelyn (Lafrance) and Wilfred Bray of Coniston. He was a graduate of St-Charles College and attended Clarkson University in Potsdam NY where he was captain of the Clarkson Golden Knights men’s hockey team. Gary settled in North Bay in 1966 and started his career with Dupont Canada. It was there he met and later married Edna (Sheppard), the love of his life, on Valentine’s Day 1969.
Gary will be missed by his beautiful wife Edna, his sons, Bill (Lisa), Richard (Shelly) & Charles (Meagan), his grandchildren Kyle, Sydney and Rachel and his extended family Chris (Steve), Stephanie (Ben), Jacob (Alex), Sam and great step grandchildren Abby and Rory.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman. His happy places were fishing his secret spots on Lake Wahnapitae, French River or in Gogama and deer hunting on Manitoulin Island. He was a nature lover and kept all the deer and ducks in the neighbourhood well fed. Anyone who knew him would appreciate his story telling and his great sense of humour. He was truly loved by all.
The family would like to thank everyone at the hospice for all the exceptional care he received in his final days.
As per Gary’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in Gary’s name would be appreciated.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
