Obituary for
Antonio “Tony” Zenari
Antonio “Tony” Zenari, 89, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, in Edmonton.
Tony was born in Calvene, Veneto, Italy, to parents Giovanni and Alba on October 14, 1932. He was a proud veteran of the Alpini Corps of the Italian military. He immigrated to Edmonton in 1958, where he met and married his beloved Anna in 1962 and became a doting father to his children. He was active in the Italian community through the Alpini Club of Edmonton, the Coro A.N.A., and the Italian Cultural Society. He enjoyed gardening, watching hockey and soccer, fishing, singing, playing the saxophone and clarinet, attending his grandchildren’s concerts and games, and socializing with friends and family.
Tony is survived by his wife, Anna; children, Dario (Maureen), Lillian (Lance Reid) and Vivian (Barrett Pashak); grandchildren, Chloe, Joshua, Gabriel and Aidan; siblings, Francesca, Adriano and Ferdinando (Franca); brothers and sisters-in-law, Giovanni (Cristina) Simpatico, Ersilia Simpatico and Maria Filippelli; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; his parents-in-law, Raffaele and Teresa Simpatico; his brothers, Egidio and Benito; and his brothers and sisters-in-law Lucia, Grace, Aldo Filippelli, Michele Simpatico, and John and Lina Kwiatkowski.
Tony’s family is grateful to all who have reached out during this difficult time. They also extend their gratitude to the staff and volunteers of the Royal Alexandra Hospital, the Cross Cancer Institute, and the Home Care program of Alberta Health Services.
Funeral Mass Friday, June 17, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 9110 – 110 Avenue, Edmonton. Reverend Father George Puramadathil, CFIC officiating, with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum.
