Carol Gay Mickelberg 1939 2022

Obituary of Carol Gay Mickelberg
It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Carol Mickelberg on June 3rd, 2022.
Born on April 20, 1939 in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Robert and Matilda Doubleday. Carol loved music and would frequently attend the Bluegrass festivals and music Jams with her husband Ernest. She loved to sing and play her guitar, and even though she was shy, she would still get up on stage with the other musicians. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed watching the different species of birds that frequently visited her back yard. Her dog and cat were a great comfort to her during her time of illness. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her whole world, which she loved each and every one of them so much.
Surviving her is her husband of 66 years, Ernest (Vincent) Mickelberg, daughter Nancy Christian (Blair), Linda Saunders (Troy), her grandchildren Ernest Young (Lori), Cory Young (Robyn), Craig Christian (Amanda), Candice Reashor. Great Grandchildren Kendall Williams, Carter Christian, Jessica Christian and Samantha Christian; her sisters Geraldine Melnyk, Lorraine Turner, brothers Carl Doubleday and Clarence Doubleday. Predeceased by her daughter Valerie Reashor; sisters Jean, Doris, Margaret, Eileen (Mickey), Elizabeth (Betty); brother Clifford.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff of Hospice Halifax for their care and compassion, and also to Cindy Bell (Palliative care team) and all the VON nurses that helped us care for her while she was at home.
A funeral service will take place at St. James Anglican Church, Herring Cove on July 9th at 11:00 am, reception to follow burial. Donations in memory of Carol may be made to St. James Anglican Church.
