Our community lost a steady influence for good. Deb Ruth Potrie of more favorably, “Deb” to those who loved her. The Enderby, Salmon Arm, and Calgary communities in particular note the passing of faithful Deb on Friday, May 27th, 2022 in the Shuswap Lake General Hospital. All of her immediate family were able to visit within the week before as her stroke(s) and steady decline in health indicated the end was near.
Deb was born in Enderby, BC February 28, 1959 to George Potrie and Joyce Zimmerman Potrie. She is predeceased by them and three siblings. Raymond, Rachel and Robert (Bob) Potrie. Leaving siblings, Brenda Winkler, Rosalie Heggs, Rodney Potrie, Randy Potrie, Wanda Christensen, Dan Potrie, Carol Ann Van De Ligt, Chris Cool, and Darrell Jones. plus 103 nieces/nephews, grandnieces/nephews and great grandnieces/nephews.
Deb attended elementary school in Kingfisher, middle school in Enderby and graduated from Salmon Arm Senior High. She went to Calgary, graduating as a nurse there and working as such until returning to Enderby at the death of her mother to care for her father, George until his passing. Deb provided valuable service in nursing homes, local communities, and worked with online research engines linking families in pedigree charts (genealogy). This work brought her great joy.
Funeral Service is 1:00pm Saturday, June 11, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Salmon Arm Chapel 1400-20th Street NE Salmon Arm BC with Bishop Wilson Kwok presiding. After the funeral services relatives and friends are invited to meet immediately at a luncheon with an open microphone in the “cultural hall” adjoining the same Salmon Arm Chapel.
