Theresa Lorraine Laframboise
August 1, 1930 – May 28, 2022
With heavy hearts the family wishes to announce the passing of Mrs. Theresa Laframboise, 91, living in Long Term Care at the Nipigon Hospital. Family were at her side at the time of her passing.
Theresa was born August 1, 1930 in Cornwall, Ontario. Mom moved to Nipigon as a teenager and finished her high school here where she made many lifelong friends and met her husband Roland. Mom raised four children Roland Jr, Denise, Alan and Paul. Mom worked as a telephone operator and also worked at Pink’s and Manilla’s stores. Mom also worked for Elections Canada. Mom loved bingo and did quite well. Mom was active in T.O.P.S., the Catholic Women’s League and was an avid reader keeping up to date on the news. Mom was a great fan of sports following hockey, curling and baseball. Although mom wasn’t outdoorsy, she, dad, the children and grandchildren spent lots of time in the outdoors, picnicking, camping and fishing. Being devout Christians Theresa and Roland enjoyed a marvellous trip to Rome, Italy and the Vatican, a highlight for them both. Mom and dad enjoyed many winters in Florida spending quality time with close friends from Northwestern Ontario and making new friendships there. Mom was honoured as a volunteer fireman’s wife supporting dad’s volunteer firefighting duties (dad was distinguished for his long service for Northwestern Ontario). After dad passed mom spent many winters in Qualicum Beach where her daughter and son-in-law live. She enjoyed trips to Victoria for shopping (shoes, clothing). Mom especially enjoyed High Tea at the Empress Hotel. One year her sister and brother (Mary Rose and Lucien “Joe”) were there to enjoy it as well.
Mom was predeceased by her parents Rosario “Leo” and Emma Belanger, siblings Victor, Lucien “Joe”, Mary Rose, Marcel and Edward. She was predeceased by her husband Roland, granddaughter Karen and her son Roland Jr. Mom is survived by her daughter Denise (Lawrence), sons Alan and Paul, daughter-in-law Lucy, grandsons Philip, Brian (Erin), David and great grandchildren Nevaeh and Max as well as numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass in memory of Theresa will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Nipigon. Interment will take place at a later date in Cliffside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Nipigon District Hospital Long Term Care would be greatly appreciated.
