John Oswald Emslie
January 9, 1938 – May 28, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Oswald Emslie, on May 28, 2022.
John passed away at the age of 84 with family by his side.
He is survived by his son Dale (Christine); his daughter Carrie; his two beloved grandchildren, Reid, and Brooke; as well as by his sister Rosemary (Rob and family, Debbie, Shane).
Ronnie, his best friend, and June, his wife of many years, will always cherish their memories of John. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
John was predeceased by his mother, Kathleen, and by his father, William.
John was born in Calgary at the Holy Cross Hospital. He valued being a hard worker and a dedicated family man.
Dad’s passion as a Power Engineer took him from working on the ferries on the West Coast of Canada, to Alberta in the oil and gas industry. He was an accomplished home builder, building his first home with Maureen, in Calgary, then moving his family here to Okotoks. John retired at 53 and enjoyed many years as a snowbird in Arizona. He had such passion for music, horses, camping, hunting, driving with the Miata Car Club, traveling, and playing guitar.
Cremation has taken place, and at John’s request there will not be a formal service.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the South Calgary Health Campus, unit 66.
