LAWLOR, Ernest (Ernie) Patrick
Passed: May 20, 2022
Born: December 31, 1956
Residing in Vavenby, B.C. – Formerly North Vancouver. Ernie died in his sleep at the age of 65 at home in Vavenby B.C. He was predeceased by his bride Tracy Lawlor (McComber) in November of 2020 — Mother Marguerita Mary (Rita) – Father Patrick Ernest (Patty)
Left to mourn his loss is his son Zachary Michael Lawlor. Brother Gordon (Sharon), sister Diane (Sandy), and sister Janice, Sister-in-law Shelley (Jeff) Smele Nieces & Nephews, Chelsea (Curtis), Mandy (Adam), Taylore (Malcolm), Michael (Alexis), Bradley (Derek) along with great nephews Nathaniel, Seth and Brody.
Ernie had a number of jobs before finding his home at TransLink, working on the north shore for most of his career. As retirement age approached Ernie & Tracy chose to buy their home in Vavenby seeking a more rural setting that was friendlier to pension life.
After his retirement from TransLink, Ernie was not ready to simply stop working and found employment with On Call in the Clearwater region and enjoyed the work, as well as new friendships that grew while he was there.
Tracy’s untimely passing shook Ernie’s world and while he and Zach were navigating their “new normal”, after a while, he decided it was time to stop working full time and put more energy into home life.
School bus driving came along as a really good fit. Mornings & afternoons providing flexibility of time with Zachary & Ernie’s German Shepherd Charlie. Ernie found the spirit of the children he served energizing and would likely have continued on with driving “his kids” for many years to come.
Ernie’s family would like to extend our thanks to Clearwater Victim Services for their early intervention assistance, neighbours Terri & Jack for their kindness and assistance.
And a special thank you to the friends and neighbours that stopped by to offer help and emotional support – Irene Cederholm (neighbour, friend & co-worker). John Gerber (friend, fellow musician & Church member) who shared a story from last Sunday’s worship, as he was leading the congregation in song he caught a glimpse of Ernie in the sound booth with an ear to ear grin while he was air drumming along with the band, (his happy place) as well as Pastor Ian Moilliet from Vavenby Christian Church, for his kind words and prayers.
A Very Special Thank You goes out to Vavenby neighbours Brian & Deanna. This couple are angels on earth with their kindness & caring being demonstrated by both their words & actions.
A Memorial – celebration of life will be decided and announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Ernie’s family asks that you make a donation to Clearwater Victim Services, AutismCanada.org or a charity of your choice.
