1934-2022
The death of Joyce C. Pickard formerly of Piercemont occurred on
Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the River View Manor, Bath. Born
December 1, 1934 in Glassville she was the daughter of the late
Herbert and Florence (Sullivan) Rideout. Joyce was also predeceased by
her husband, James; 1 son, Paul ; 2 sisters, Ann and Rita.
Joyce was a lover of nature, flowers and gardening. She lived for her
church, never missing and working at the Johnville Picnic, Harvest
Suppers, bingo and card parties in the church hall. She was involved
in the CWL, parish council, president of both and teaching Sunday
School. That was her life’s work besides farming along with her
husband James for many years.
She had a great sense of humor, she loved to hear and tell a good joke
and in her later years at River View Manor she kept many people
entertained. She will be sadly missed by many.
Joyce is survived by her 3 children, Elizabeth McCorquindale (Jeff),
Jimmy Pickard (Carol) and Rosemary DeMerchant (Ray Freeman); 11
grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Josephine Bulmer as
well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the
Evangelist Church Johnville, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 11:00 am.
The interment will be in the Johnville Cemetery. For those who wish
donations made to the River View Manor or the Johnville Cemetery
