WIEMER Hans

WIEMER Hans May 28

1941 – 2022
We are sad to announce that Hans Wiemer passed away peacefully in hospital on Saturday May 28th, 2022. After a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in 2013, he fought with everything he had and used the time he won well and wisely. The time came last week for him to have a well-deserved rest.
Hans was unfailingly positive, kind, generous, compassionate and, almost always, “in the moment.” With his charming manner and bright blue eyes, he set out to connect with those who crossed his path and made many life-long friends along the way. He loved to share his unique view on life. He tried to make things better in many and different ways; repairing aircraft for over thirty years, serving twelve years as a city councillor in DDO, teaching meditation, being instrumental in protecting land around the lake he loved in the Laurentians, and building decks, docks, kitchens and more.
He leaves behind his beloved Wilma, wife, friend and partner of sixty years, his daughter Karen, son-in-law Demos, daughter-in-law Trish, grandchildren Jackie, Nick, Zeno and Theo, as well as friends near and far.
We would like to thank everyone who cared for Hans at the Jewish General Hospital, especially Dr Batist and the Oncology team, the amazing staff of the 6th floor of the K Building and Dr Huk; that new hip was put to very good use to do the cycling, paddling and cross-country skiing he loved.
He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
Donations to the Jewish General Hospital or the charity of your choice would be much appreciated; no flowers, please.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th at Voluntas, 4695 boul. St-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, with visitation to follow until 6 p.m.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of WIEMER Hans
