Roseline Mae Nahorney, age 90, passed to her rest May 21, 2022 surrounded by members of her loving family.
She was born October 29, 1931 in Beauvallon, Alberta to the late William and Marcella (Lang) Tkachuk. She grew up in Two Hills, and later moved to Edmonton, Alberta with her parents and younger brother David. After high school at Canadian Union College in Lacombe, Alberta, she worked in the Edmonton Police Department as a secretary before marrying Fred Nahorney of Sarrail, Alberta on December 16, 1956.
She raised 5 daughters. She felt sympathy for children that did not have a mother to love them, so for 25 years she and her husband were foster parents. She was a mother and grandmother to many others whom she took under her wings. She was hospitable always inviting visitors from church home for a meal. She was a generous lady, sharing her garden produce with others. She was a hardworking woman; gardening, canning, working on the farm, picking wild berries. Education was dear to her heart so she worked for 8 years as a cook at the Husky café in Grassland so her daughters could get more education than she had if they so chose. She also sponsored children in third world countries to get an education.
Through her life she sold Amway, Tupperware, Encyclopedias, Bible Story books, eggs, berries, poultry, and crafts. She loved reading, crocheting, crossword puzzles, tending flowers,
sewing, playing scrabble, and putting puzzles together. She enjoyed animals; her favorite were cats.
Rosaline was an active member of the Boyle Seventh-day Adventist Church holding positions of treasurer, pianist, deaconess, and children’s Sabbath School teacher. She was an active ADA volunteer, collecting clothes and sorting them before sending them to the distribution center in Edmonton. These were then sent out to various community centers including overseas destinations.
She joined Gwen Hall in establishing the Boyle Food Bank in the Seventh-day Adventist Church that is still operating today. This community service center also distributed clothing.
She was happy to move into Wild Rose Villa in 2017. She fell asleep in Jesus, May 21, 2022.
