Obituary of Dennis Oliver Segberg
Dennis Oliver Segberg, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on May 21, 2022 at 73 years of age, following a long and challenging health battle. Dennis was born on April 24, 1949 to Edwin and Elvena Segberg. Dad grew up on his family’s homestead in Ordale, SK. In 1975, he met his future wife Johanna while travelling through Macklin, Saskatchewan for work. It was in Macklin that he and Johanna married and raised their two sons Dean and Donald. They were very active members of their local community. Dad played fastball with the Macklin Merchants, the Dirty Dozen, and Primac; and was very proud to have played Oldtimer hockey with the Bodo Oilers. As his career progressed, they moved to Lloydminster area in 1997, eventually purchasing their acreage at Willow Creek Estates.
Dad will be remembered as an extremely hard worker, a provider, a man who would drop everything to help someone in need, and as a very proud husband, father and grandfather. He took pride in everything he did, and stopped at nothing to ensure that his family was taken care of.
He enjoyed the simple things in life: fishing, boating, camping, spending time with his grandchildren, and mowing the many acres of grass at his acreage.
Dad’s passing leaves a huge hole in our family. Left to mourn is the love of his life, and wife of 46 years, Johanna; His sons Dean (Delee) and Don (Jessica); Grandchildren Jacob, Drew, Dane, Adelaide, Dacie, and Vance; Sisters Elaine Brunton (Jim), Vivian Segberg, and Pauline Mason (Keith); Brother Terry Segberg (Arlette) and Brother-in-law Marvin Moberg; Sisters-in-law Charlene Mason (Fred), Denise Jensen (Cal), Sandra Myers (Neil), Audrey Vollman (Mel); and Brothers-in-law Daniel Gette (Dianne) and Brian Gette (Charlene); & many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Lloydminster Hospital who cared for Dad these past 4 months, and to both Dr Ilunga and Dr O.
A private family gathering will take place this summer.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Dennis can be made to the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society at www.cpaws.org
