À la mémoire de
Frederick Fulton
2 juillet 1932 –
16 mai 2022
Proud to be Canadian and motivated every day by a conviction that Canada can offer the world something better, Frederick Joseph (Fred) Fulton was in every respect a builder. A thriving business that delivered innovative products from coast-to-coast-to-coast and around the world, providing a professional home to a generation of cherished employees. A vibrant social life, with a diverse network of friendships that sustained him. A bustling, busy family home with his departed first wife, Mary Jane (O’Donnell), six children in ten years, 17 grandchildren and a growing army of great-grandchildren (you know who you are; we’re paying by the character here.)
Fred professed that in everything we do – business, sport, education, personal endeavours – we can probably do it a little better this time. The team at Fulton Windows could design and build something more high-performing and more beautiful. The golfers could prevail at the Atlantis Can-Am if only he could improve his bloody swing. He could practice his chord transitions and make that song sound lovelier. He could deepen his faith by better understanding God’s will. This year’s party could be even more fun if we get people dancing. Crooning around the piano with his beautiful sisters, Maureen and Frances, they could try that harmony one more time.
His relentless positivity seemed to come naturally, despite a challenging start. Born to a fine Toronto family at a tough time in history, Fred entered adulthood in an era of growing opportunity, with no choice but to make his way in the world, and he did so beautifully in so many ways. He made his mark as a trailblazing business entrepreneur in 1959 when he started one of the first independent insulating glass manufacturers in the world, Sealite Glass Ltd., and followed that up by developing the national association to set the standards for quality.
Fred left us as he wished peacefully at home on May 16, 2022, in his 90th year, in the arms of his beloved wife Linda Taras-Fulton, having shared decades of happiness together. We expect there is a special place reserved in heaven for dear Linda, after these months of compassionate, loving care.
Family and friends are invited to share happy memories on Monday May 23 from 2 – 6 p.m. at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St W. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday May 24 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 2055 Bloor St W (reception to follow.) Interment Wednesday May 25 at 11 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery, 305 Erskine Ave.
