Harvey Joseph Malloy
(January 7, 1934 – May 11, 2022)
Harvey Joseph Malloy loved games, sports, helping others, and most of all – his cherished wife Geraldine to whom he was married for 68 years. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on May 11, 2022.
The son of Reginald and Agatha Malloy, Harvey was born January 7, 1934 in Huntsville, Ontario. From an early age he excelled at sports and quickly made a name for himself as an exceptional lacrosse player; a talent that would see him move to Brampton, Ontario as a teenager to play. Once termed “the golden nugget from the North”, Harvey “legs” Malloy would go on to play for the Brampton Excelsiors and several other Toronto-area teams.
He worked for Orenda Engines for over 40 years, a job he loved and where he made many meaningful friendships. He loved to spend his spare time puttering in the garden or at the rink watching the local hockey. The garden he and Gerri created together was his pride and joy and continues to turn heads on Glendale Avenue.
After retirement he joined the gym and loved taking his lacrosse stick down to the school to throw the ball. He had a quiet presence and was always quick to smile, especially when taking your money at cards.
He is predeceased by his son Stephen and daughter Cindy. He is survived by wife Gerri, his two daughters Suzanne and Janet (Ed), son Dean (Jocelyn), his grandsons Brad (Melanie) and Kevin, and his granddaughters Laura and Maddy. Harvey will be laid to rest at Brampton Cemetery during a private family service. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 15th, 2022 at 1pm at the Brampton Legion at 80 Mary Street, Brampton, Ontario, L6W 2R3. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
