Obituary of Jo-Anne Rose Mann
Jo-Anne was born March 29, 1953 in New Denver, BC and left us on April 30, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. She lived in Cranbrook, BC from age 11 until her passing and worked 35+ years for BC Social Services. She was here to serve the underprivileged, the underrepresented, and anyone in need. As part of her giving she served on the Board of Cranbrook Society for Community Living for 10+ years.
True to her selfless nature, 40 years ago, Jo-Anne and Doug Hyslop started the Rocky Mountain Housing Society to provide housing to those facing various challenges. They not only attend to the administration of the non-profit, but also worked to maintain the units themselves.
Jo-Anne will be remembered for her love of family and friends, tremendous kindness, uncompromising values, quirky sense of humour, all-encompassing love of animals, outstanding baking (much to the delight of family and friends), and meticulous needlework and crocheting—just a few of her many talents.
Jo-Anne was predeceased by her mother Yukiko (née Fujiwara) Mann, father Tom Mann, and stepmother Mary Mann. She’s survived by sisters Patty Mann and Robin Sudo and brother-in-law Scott, her beloved nieces Lindey Sudo and Lacey (Callen) Kozinuk, great-nephew Easton (who brought her much joy) and his sister who’s arriving in June. She’s also survived by Clinton, Jen, Cassie, and Dani Kilback; Calvin, Dee, Alyssa, and Keian Kilback; Chad and Kim Kilback; Caryn Kilback-Nelson, Matt Nelson, and baby Aldous and 8 cousins in England. She was an aunt to many of her friends’ children as well.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and in lieu of flowers please send your condolences in the form of donations to your local SPCA.
*She touched many lives, will be greatly missed and forever shine her beautiful light on all*
