John Joseph Gerald Gerry Trainor 19432022

John Joseph Gerald “Gerry” Trainor
1943-2022
Born in Halifax, NS, in 1943 and raised in Morell, Prince
Edward Island, Gerry was predeceased by his parents, Winnie and Henry,
and Uncle Jack. He is survived by his wife, Donna (née
Smith) of 54 years, children Lisa (Alex), David (Jennifer) and
grandchildren Jack and Julia; sisters Olive (Gerard), Vangie (Leo),
and Dot (Dan) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gerry divided his 30-year-career in the Canadian Armed Forces
between the RCAF and the RCEME Corps where he saw postings to France
(where he met Donna), Germany, Summerside and Gagetown, among others.
Upon retiring from the CAF, Gerry spent 14 years working for Forestry
Canada. He has also spent countless, selfless hours volunteering as a
jack-of-all-trades and Board Member for the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens
Cemetery.
Gerry had an infectious, larger-than-life personality who
made friends wherever he went and left a lasting impression with
everyone he met. A lifelong Habs fan, he was also a charter member of
the Oromocto Liars’ Club that met regularly at the Chapel of St.
Timothy’s at Gateway Parish.
As a family we thank Dr. Luisa Galvis, Dr. Karen Broad, the
oncology staff, volunteers, and nurses at the Dr. Everett Chalmers
Hospital for their excellent care and kindness.
Visitation will be at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, May
13, 2022 from 11 am – 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow in
Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery beginning at 2:00 pm. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Oromocto Pioneer
Gardens Cemetery would be appreciated.
