Peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Sunday, May 8th, 2022 in his 97th year. Beloved husband of the late Ellen (née Dooley, 1996). Loving father of Paul, Ida (Anne), Ted (Della), Ron (Kathy), Robert (Deanna), the late Joe (Karen) and Bill Jr. Proud grandfather of 12 and great grandfather of 21. Survived by his dear sister Elizabeth. Will be missed by many extended family members and dear friends.
He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, selling poppies each year for Remembrance Day. He in the past, has raised over 1 million dollars to support cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. He is a WW II veteran with 25 year of service and an avid fundraiser for the community.
Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will occur on the following day on Thursday, May 12th, 2022 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie at 10 am. Interment to follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. In lieu of flowers, donations in Will’s memory may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or to the Barrie Legion and are greatly appreciated by the family.
