Passed away peacefully on May 4, 2022 at 91 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Bertha (1989) and the late Bernice (2007). Loving father of David & wife Lynda and Carolyn & husband Al Smith. Loved grandfather of Evan and Meagan Fortier and Madison and Jakob Smith. Loving companion of Eleanor Bergeron. Dear step-grandfather of Dennis (Luci) and the late Doug (Chantelle and her spouse Terry) and step great-grandfather of Daniel and Julie. Jake will also be remembered by Eleanor’s children and their families. Dear brother of the late Donna Deschaine, Robert, Jim (Linda) and Tom (Sharon). He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Jake worked with the City of Windsor at the police garage, as well as the Traffic Engineering Department for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer, bowler and loved to travel.
Jake was also a Windsor Spitfire season ticket holder.
He will be remembered for his dedication and time volunteering at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Windsor Goodfellows, Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul.
Memorial donations to Windsor Goodfellows, St Vincent de Paul or Hospice of Windsor would be appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor (519)969-5841. Family & friends are invited to meet on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 4401 Mount Royal Dr., from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
