Obituary of Daniel William Smith
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel William Smith, who left us Saturday April 30, 2022 at the age of 75 years. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marie Smith, two loving daughters, Danielle (James) and Nicole (Chuck); and one beautiful granddaughter, Lorelai.
Loving brother to Theresa Bennett, Cathy (Pat) Walsh, Joanne Sorgente and Susan Klepey and son in law to Bill and Doris Smith and brother in law Andrew. Dan was predeceased by his parents Frances and George Smith, sister Frances Purdy and her husband Jack and brother in law Roy Klepey.
He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and large group of friends.
Dan spent most of his years around the things he loved most. He was at his happiest either in his beautiful childhood home on Beach Blvd which would later become his family home; or out on the water, fishing and cruising Lake Ontario on his boat, “Hot Spot”. The simple pleasures of gardening, BBQ’ing, watching the time pass and being with his friends and family is what defined him the most. He was a loving, kind, respectful, patient man who lit up every room he entered. He no doubt will be watching down on us each day, encouraging us to live our lives to their fullest.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of good wishes, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
