It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry on April 23, 2022.
Barry was born in Penticton, B.C. and raised in Oliver, B.C. on the family orchard. He adored his mother & father and siblings. He was the last of Jack & Beryl’s children to pass on. Eager to leave the family farm Barry set out as a teenager to make his way in the world. Barry firmly believed in the motto ” Fake it until you make it “. Barry was a hard worker and he became very good at whatever he did, from heavy duty equipment operator, mobile home hauling & automobile salesperson.
Barry met the love of his life Melinda at the car dealership they both worked at. Barry & Melinda raised their two boys at West Lake on their property. Barry also enjoyed raising all types of fowl from chickens to peacocks and everything in between.
Barry’s children were his world. Barry was predeceased by two of his children, Karl & Jessica.
Left to grieve are his wife, Melinda, children, Marnee ( Glenn ), Bart ( Allison ), Anne ( Ryan ), Josh & Dustin, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews. Barry was a blessed man.
Barry’s family would like to thank the numerous health care professionals both in Prince George and in Vernon who cared for Barry during his final journey: Dr. Stacey Miller, Dr. Ken Perrier, Dr. Allison Rankin, all the staff @ the chemotherapy lab in Vernon & all the angels @ the Vernon Hospice House. Your kindness to Barry and his family will always be cherished.
Barry was the glue that held this large family together. Barry was always there to lend a helping hand and our world is a lesser place with his passing. His life was full but he felt it was time for the next great adventure. As he said before his passing, “see you on the other side.”
His loving family and friends will hold memories of him close to their hearts forever.
