Langille, Lloyd Wallace – Age 93, Truro Heights, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2022 with his loving family by his side. Lloyd was a son of the late Edward “Holly” and Dorothy (Swallow) Langille from Wentworth, Cumberland County. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley (Brown); daughter, Kimberly (Charles) McGill; son, Stephen (Jackie); grandchildren, Jordan (Jenny) McGill, Dustin (Angela) McGill, Benjamin, Gillian and Ryan Langille and great grandchildren, Wyatt, Emma and Liam McGill. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Basil “Bud” MacDonald; nieces, Tina (Doug) Legere, Dawn (John) Gamlin and Shelly MacDonald as well as nephew, Wade Redmond.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Joan MacDonald and Kathleen Redmond; brothers, Wayne and Gerald; sister-in-law, Peggy Langille; brother-in-law, Kaye Redmond as well as a sister in infancy.
Lloyd worked in the dairy industry for many years with Meadowvale, Farmers Dairy and Brookfield retiring from Scotsburn Dairy. He had a great love for picking wild berries and kept the freezer well stocked for the family, who enjoyed the fruits of his labour. For 64 years, Lloyd was an Elder of the Brunswick Street United Church. He was also very proud of his numerous years as a member of the Salmon River Volunteer Fire Brigade. Lloyd enjoyed bowling and curling, but especially the weekly card games. A special thank-you to the “Boys” who made sure, in his later years, that he could still attend the games that he so looked forward to until COVID-19 made it difficult to be present in person.
Donations in Lloyd’s memory may made to Truro Homeless Outreach Society or charity of choice.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3rd from 1pm until time of service at 2pm beginning with a Salmon River Fire Brigade Tribute, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS, Rev. John Parsons officiating. Interment to follow immediately in Wentworth United Baptist Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
