Obituary
Margaret Ann McCarthy passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the age of 61. Beloved spouse and best friend to Jim, and dear mother to James. Margaret is survived by her mother Patricia Woods, sister Maureen, brother Martin, and predeceased by her father John (2003). She was adored by her in-laws, the late Jim and Jean McCarthy, Marie, Trish, Cathy, Mike, and Dan, and cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a City Councillor in Flamborough (City of Hamilton), and served her constituents with passion, dedication, and care. She was the longest serving Flamborough Counsillor of 16 years. She was a lady of many talents. Besides her career in politics, she and Jim enjoyed their work in real estate and it was her decorative talents that made their endeavors so successful. Margaret was a talented painter and often gifted special people in her life with beautiful works of art. She appreciated hosting many family gatherings and was often the life of the party. Margaret’s generosity, kindness and fun-loving spirit will be forever in our hearts.
Thanks to Dr. Elit and Dr. Reade for their support. Special thanks to Heidi for her care and dedication to Margaret.
Per Margaret’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Donations to your local food bank or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
