Guiseppina LeFosse Massimiliano Monday April 25th 2022

Giuseppina Massimiliano (nee LeFosse), age 93, passed away the morning of April 25th, 2022, peacefully in her sleep at the Woods Park Care Centre, located in Barrie, Ontario.
She was born September 12th, 1928, in Rossano, Italy, the daughter of Antonio LeFosse (predeceased) and Achiropita LeFosse (nee Porco) (predeceased), and sister of Antonio LeFosse, Sestina Falcone (predeceased), Assunta Crispo (predeceased), Christina Iacopino (predeceased), and Faustina Celebre (predeceased).
Immigrating to Canada in 1950 after obtaining her teaching degree Giuseppina left behind her family and a comfortable life in Cosenza, Italy, to follow the love of her life to a new country. Giuseppina and Francesco settled in the small community of Gatchell, in Sudbury, Ontario, where they would build a family of their own. A devout catholic, Giuseppina not only attended St. Anthony of Padua Church in Gatchell, but was involved with the Catholic Women’s League of Canada for 36 years, serving as an executive member and spent countless hours volunteering with the Church in the community of Gatchell and beyond. Further, Giuseppina taught Italian for the Heritage Language Program at St. Anthony’s Catholic School for 10 years.
Giuseppina was an adventurous soul who continued to enjoy travel with her husband in Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America. She continued traditional baking and cooking at her home in Gatchell, passing on Calabrian recipes and secrets to her daughters along the way. Giuseppina’s grandchildren were always excited to visit her as they knew a chocolate cake of a pizza would be waiting for them made by Nonna. Giuseppina was an excellent seamstress, as she made and altered clothing for her family throughout her years in Gatchell.
Nobody was ever a stranger at the Massimiliano house, often welcoming neighbours with a glass of homemade wine or a cup of coffee. Her smile and caring demeanour will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of many who knew her.
Giuseppina was predeceased by her husband, Francesco and her son Oliverio Eugenio. Survived by her daughters Angela, (Frank); Wilma (Douglas) and Anna (Douglas), along with three grandchildren; Anthony (Linda); Frank (Abigail); Joseph (Krista); and two great grandchildren: Finnley and Adaline. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends here in Canada, in Italy, and in the United States of America, who will sadly miss her.
