Obituary For Dennis David Leys
Dennis David Leys, resident of Wembley, AB, formerly of Elrose and Saskatoon, SK, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, in the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 70 years.
Dennis was born in Elrose, on May 27, 1951. He grew up on the family farm and in the city of Saskatoon. He regularly attended his dad’s church and attended school at Walter Murray School. Dennis was a farmer, oilfield truck driver, logger, grain buyer, Saskatchewan provincial boxing coach, a father, husband and friend.
He was a great storyteller, charismatic, joyful, funny, a protector, a friend, encourager, and motivator.
Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, karaoke, being a boxing coach, being with family and friends, and he was quite fond of his dogs.
Dennis will be sadly missed by his ex-wife Joy Leys; ex-wife Lois Zahn; children: Michael “Mike”, Leon, Sean and Jayson; as well as grandchildren Brooklyn and Logan.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Lena Leys; brothers: Bill Leys, Allan Leys and Ken Leys; as well as his sister Jenny Leys Dyck.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 1:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Funeral Service to follow.
A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Dennis’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.
An Interment will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 11:00am, at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave and 112th St.).
