Michael Edmund Weekes July 26 1941April 16 2022

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Edmund Weekes on April 16, 2022.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda; his two sons, Michael Jr., and Paul (Sheresse); his grandchildren, Shae, Olivia, Andre, Owen, and Mia. He also leaves three brothers, Leslie Jr, Roger, and Peter as well as his sister, Betty.
Michael was born on July 26, 1941, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. One of seven children to Leslie Sr and Lucita Weekes.
Michael was a true scholar as he earned his undergraduate degree at the University of the West Indies; after which he obtained his master’s degree at the University of London; and culminated at the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained his doctorate in engineering.
It is here where he met Linda and began their life together and were married on April 4, 1971. After a brief time in back in Trinidad and Tobago, Michael and Linda made their permanent home in the Canadian prairies, and on June 30, 1986, Michael became a Canadian Citizen.
He will be remembered by his family as a man who enjoyed his family. Although the last few years of his life were met with challenges to his health, Michael took immense pride in the various accomplishments by his five grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a small private service will be held in his memory by family.
