Thelma Althea Huntley
1929-2022
With sad hearts and loving memories, the family
announces the passing of Thelma Althea Huntley, age 92, of New Minas,
N.S. on Thursday, April 21, 2022. Thelma was born June 16, 1929 in
Halls Harbour, Nova Scotia. She was a daughter of the late Charles and
Ella (Porter) Simpson.
Thelma was raised in Halls Harbour, where she
met and married her late husband, Carleton Lester Huntley. While she
always loved the harbour, she said she didn’t want to live
there and lived many years of her life in New Minas. Thelma loved
playing cards and was merciless at any card game. She had a zest for
life and loved spending time with friends and family. She retired from
Camp Aldershot as a cook and truly loved feeding people. During her
time in Camp Aldershot, Thelma met two very precious people, that
remained her lifelong friends to the end, Grace Bezanson and Bernie
White and we know these two wonderful ladies will truly miss her.
The family would like to say a special and
sincere thank you to her dear friends Pearle Morine and Judy Crocker
for all their assistance during her stay at the New Minas Seniors
Complex.
Thelma was predeceased by her parents, her
husband, Carleton Huntley; daughter, Phyllis (Charles) White of
Yarmouth; son, Lionel Carleton Huntley of New Minas; son, Carson
(Wanda Power) Huntley of Cambridge; and granddaughter, Michelle Lynn
Huntley.
Thelma is survived and will be missed by her
daughters, Patricia Harvie, Ontario; Nancy (Richard White) Huntley of
New Minas; Pamela (Larry Power) Huntley, Sparwood, B.C.; Deborah
Huntley, Chester; and Angela Huntley, Sparwood, B.C.; sons, Roger
(Ardythe) Huntley, Cambridge; Blain (Vicki) Huntley, Kentville; and
Anthony (Carly) Huntley, Victoria, B.C. Thelma is also survived by 18
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren
and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

family to pay tribute to Thelma will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2022
at 1:00 p.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Masks are
strongly recommended please. For those unable to attend, there will be
