Obituary
UPFOLD – Kathy Ann (nee Caperchione) of Port Colborne passed away peacefully at the St. Catharine’s General Hospital on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at the age of 70 with her love Rick Jackson by her side. Kathy was born in Welland to Lawrence and Eleanor Caperchione on June 14, 1951. An only child, she was the center of her parents’ world, a true Daddy’s girl, and a DIVA in every sense of the word. For those who knew her well, Kathy was never far from the spotlight. Be it her bold and dynamic fashion sense or her ability to simply lift a finger and crowd a dance floor, Kathy knew how to have a good time. She attended Port Colborne High School and later graduated from Welland Business College and accepted a job with the Niagara Credit Union in Wainfleet where she worked for over 15 years. The next 15 years were spent working for MP John Maloney and she finished her career path working for the St. Lawrence Seaway. Kathy was heavily involved in the community for most of her adult life volunteering her time to various boards and committees such as the Port Colborne Chamber of Commerce, the Federal Liberal Association, and Port Colborne’s Canal Days Festival. She spent her youth as a competitive figure skater and shared a love of hockey and attended NHL games with her dad. Growing up on Lock 8 in her grandparent’s store only strengthened her love for the Welland Canal and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Kathy is survived by her 3 nieces Nancy Schuyler (Geoff), Kelly Kountouris (Pierre) and Bethany Moore who she loved like daughters, her great nephew Connor and her great nieces Jenna, Jailyn, and Mataya. She shared countless memories with her longest and very best friend Janet Roy (John Ferrara) and cherished years of close companionship with her dear friends John and Sherrie Maloney and their family. She will be missed by her love Rick Jackson whom she met while recovering at Shaver Hospital and their fur baby Tommy. Also survived by her cousins Melissa Wotherspoon and Matt Roy. Kathy is predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Eleanor Caperchione, Jack Roy and Terry Roy who were like brothers to her, and her Auntie Verna and Uncle Odie Roy. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a small graveside service is being held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Welland and District Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne.
