Nelson, (Aitken) Mary Jane
Mary Jane, was born on March 15th, 1930 in Trail B.C. and at the age of 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14th, 2022.
Jane was predeceased by the love of her life, Jim (March 2018). She truly missed him and always shared wonderful memories of the 68 years they spent together.
Jane was one of six children born to George and Helen Aitken. She spent her life in the Trail area residing at Bell Place, Wellington Street, Shakespeare Street and finally settling in the house on the hill on Whitman Way. Jane always referred to Warfield as her village and took pride in being one of the oldest and longest residents. Jane is survived by her only living sibling George and sister-in-law Valerie. She leaves behind her family, Carolyn (Gordon) of Trail B.C., Patti (Anthony) of Kitimat B.C. and James (Jewel) of Edmonton Alberta. Jane was blessed with 5 grandchildren David (Magali), James (Tanya), Katie, Madison and Lindsay and four great-grandchildren Elliott, Izaak, Emma Quinn and Everly. Jane leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Throughout her life Jane met many close friends. Her dearest and best friends Deborah and Tess, would make her feel like the lady she was, spending special times together. Jane valued her good neighbours. Shakespeare Street neighbour and family friend Hannah, Whitman Way neighbours, Margaret and Barb, were there to visit, chat and spend time with Jane.
Jane spent her life bringing up her family, hosting family and friends at her home and travelling. In her early years, when bringing up her children, she was involved in the Warfield United Church Sunday School and James L. Webster School Parent Teacher Group. Jane was very “house proud” and always made sure the house was neat and clean for visitors. She spent many good times attending activities in the Village of Warfield. If there was a social event, Jane would be there to support and enjoy. Jane travelled and shared those experiences with her husband, children and grandchildren. Thanks to Jane and her great recollection of all these experiences, the memories will be passed on.
Throughout her years, Jane met and spent time with many wonderful people. As the years went on, mom needed more care. The family would like to thank all that knew and cared for mom. There are so many of you and we were truly grateful for the support. Mom’s last months were spent at Columbia View Lodge. We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff for your care and kindness.
Thank you to Gwen Ziprick for your professional and kind care of arrangements for our mom. A Celebration of our Mom’s life will be held at a later date. If you wish to make a donation it can be made to Trail Hospice Society www.trailhospice.org or a charity of your choice in Mary Jane’s memory.
“Mom, you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.”
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
