It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Fraser, age 79, on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born March 24, 1943, in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Anderson) Brown.
Betty was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was raised by the ocean, where she spent a lot of her childhood swimming and going fishing with her father. Betty was an animal lover. Her family was her world and she cherished them all. Betty will be sadly missed by everyone.
Betty is survived by her sons, Paul (Verna), Sydney Mines, Scott (Freda), Sydney Mines and Kevin (Crystal), Westmount; daughters, Darlene (Larry), Balls Creek and Lisa (Jamie), Westmount. She is also survived by her sisters, Veronica Gove, North Sydney and Cathy Williams (Eric) and Alice King (Billy), both of Sydney Mines; and brother, James, Sydney Mines, as well as 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; sister, Christie; and brothers, Jimmy, John David and Onnie.

Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 27 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 11 a.m. with Mr. Gary Grant officiating. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or the Cape Breton SPCA.
