Yvonne Shirley Spitse
73, passed away peacefully at her home on November 2, 2021, surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was a devoted wife to Cornelis for 54 years, and a loving mother to Micheal Spitse (Carol), Jeffery Spitse (d. 1968), and Michelle Iversen. She was a proud Nana to Cassandra Spitse, Jaclyn Tuffin (Billy), Mikayla Spitse and Rachel Iversen. She was daughter to Arthur (d. 2002) and Doreen Gagnon, sister to Yvette Cousineau (Daniel d. 2002), and predeceased by brothers Lawrence Gagnon (d. 2019) (Debby) and Paul Gagnon (d. 2017) (Karen). She was an Aunty and cherished friend to many. Yvonne enjoyed reading, baking, shopping and camping. She found great joy in being a caregiver, always helping others in their time of need and never missed a chance to be with her family, from ball games to birthdays. No matter what she did, she made sure she looked her best, always having her hair and makeup done. Yvonne was a beautiful woman, inside and out.
At Yvonne’s request, cremation will be taking place. The family extends their gratitude to caring nurse, Alyssa Mctavish. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Parish (29 Elliott St, Leamington, ON N8H 3M4) on Tuesday November 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Please call St. Michael’s Parish (519 326-2643) directly to make a reservation for Mass.
