It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Yvonne Cahill, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Mary Rita (Corbett) and sister Sharon.
A beloved sister, devoted aunt and cousin, as well as a treasured friend, Yvonne leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends, including sister Denise (Trevor Bennett) brother Mike (Nina), Uncle Bernard (Mary), nieces and nephews Kaitlin Brown (Jacob), Michaela Quinlan (Kristopher Pearcey), Nicole (Paddy Murphy), Yolanda Davis (Mark), Josh Bennett (Kayla Burden), Kyle Bennett (Victoria Maloney). Cousins Maureen Kavanaugh and Patrick Mackey, both of whom were like brother and sister to Yvonne and held a special place in her heart. As well as cousins Wendell Corbett, Dean Corbett, and Lynn Corbett, Coleen Mackey, Iris Crocker (Scott), Angie Cluett (Eric), Jim Mackey, Greg Mackey (Cathy), Roland Mackey, Patricia Beasley (Brenden), Mike Kavanaugh, Jimmy Kavanaugh, Paul Kavanaugh, Bobby Kavanaugh, Susan Cahill, Anne Smith (Greg), Stephen (Kim), Michelle Bennett (Jeff), Kathy Fitzgerald (Sean). Great nieces and nephews Tyler Coady, Jayden Coady, Kylie Coady, Kennedy Davis, Emily Davis, Gracie Davis, and baby Nora Pearcey. Her friend Dianne McGrath who was dear to her heart and her caring, loving condo buddies at 25 Tiffany Lane who always checked in, brought food, and brought out her infectious vibrant smile.
Yvonne’s family wishes to offer a special thank you to the staff of 5 East, St Clare’s Intensive Care unit, especially Nurses Katie and Danielle, Dr. Kenny, Dr. Bushett, Dr. Peters, and Nurse Practitioner Kirk Dawe, whose caring and compassion were a tremendous support in this difficult time. Additional thank you’s to the Home First Program and community health nurses for the care and support in the last few months and Dr. Andrew Hutton for ongoing care over the years.
Yvonne will be resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road, St. John’s, with visitation on Friday, December 3, 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm. Her funeral will be celebrated from St. Teresa’s Church, Mundy Pond Road, on Saturday, December 4, at 12 noon VAXPASS and PHOTO ID required for all attendees at funeral. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or donations may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
We will all miss her razor wit, relentless drive, strength, fabulous cooking, and unending devotion to those who were lucky enough to share her life. She is now probably enjoying the loving embrace of Harold, Rita, and Sharon, all beneficiaries of her generous care. And though she will be greatly missed by so many, Yvonne has filled our hearts with vivid and loving memories that will never fade.
A life that touches others goes on forever.
