Yvonne Boulega
On Sunday, December 5, 2021 Yvonne Boulega passed away peacefully in her sleep at Forest View Place, Clearwater BC, at the age of 87 years. Yvonne was predeceased by the love of her life and husband Harry in July 1991. She is survived by her loving family; daughter Sharon (Larry) Young, three sons Garry (Kathy), Van & Kelvin, granddaughter Jocelyn (Bryan) and her two great granddaughters, Sienna and Kierra, whom she always affectionately referred to as “Her Little Monsters”.
Yvonne is survived by her brother Donald Hagglund of Three Hills, Alberta, brother-in-law Metro (Liz) Boulega of Surrey, BC & sister-in-law Nellie Kulbaba of Dryden, Ontario and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by Harry’s sisters and their husbands; Olga (Mike) Atamanchuk, Anne (Joe) Manson, Helen (Andy) Dzuris and brother-in-law Michael Kulbaba.
As a young married couple, Yvonne and Harry left Manitoba for Birch Island, BC where Harry had a job waiting for him at Rexspar Mine. They knew this new beginning would be best for them. They raised their four children in Birch Island where their yard was known for the vegetable & fruit gardens and the rows of colourful flowers.
Yvonne taught Sunday School when her children were young. She worked with other moms to serve hot lunches to the children at Birch Island School. Later, she worked for School District 26, North Thompson, as a custodian, taking pride in having good working relations with her co-workers.
Harry and Yvonne moved to their retirement dream home in Kamloops in November 1989. Yvonne continued to garden, add more trees and shrubs to their new yard. After Harry passed away, Yvonne became a volunteer with the Afternoon Hospital Auxiliary to Royal Inland Hospital in January 1992. She received her 25 year volunteer pin in 2017. She enjoyed helping people as she volunteered in Admitting in RIH, especially when North Thompson residents came in and she could visit with familiar faces while taking them to their appointments within the hospital. Yvonne enjoyed the monthly meetings of the BC Retired Government Employees Association until her move back to Clearwater.
When Yvonne knew she could no longer live independently and realized she needed to be closer to her family, the process began to become a resident of Forest View Place. To all of you that cared for Yvonne at Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital and in Forest View Place, thank-you! A special thank you to all the volunteers who enriched the lives of the residents in FVP.
A private family gathering will take place as Yvonne is laid to rest by Harry at Hillside Cemetary in Kamloops, BC.
Yvonne’s family would appreciate donations be made to Dr. Helmcken Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Yvonne believed in the work that Auxiliary members do in order to support medical staff at hospitals. Condolences may be sent to “Drake Cremation.com”
