Surrounded with love and prayer, Yvette Marie Sheehan (nee Gallant), passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Souris Hospital on Thursday, July 1, 2021. Yvette celebrated her 81st birthday on June 23, but in her true youthful and fun spirit, she reversed the numbers to celebrate her 18th birthday instead.
Yvette was a caring and gentle mother to Glen (Janine), Brad (Wendy MacMillan), Micheline Downe (Wade), Shawna Westaway (Alan), Rene (Donna Deagle), Dawn Carter (Stephen), and Jennifer. She was a devoted and fun Grammie to Keir (Josie) and Haylee Sheehan (Pat); Matthew and Allison Downe; Rachel (Nav), Laura (Lucas), and Cole Westaway; Sarah, Georgia and Charlie Carter and great grandchildren Tycen, Austyn, Brooklyn, Camryn, and Jep. Yvette was also adored by her siblings, Romeo (Eydie), Clem (Yvonne), Anne Marie Johnson (Dean), Claire Green, Ronald (Donna), Mark (Linda), Richard (Geri), Anita St. Denis (Willy), Carmella Cheverie, Adrienne Kervin (Mike), Denise Jakubiak (Jerry), Elaine Black and Al (Doreen) and sisters-in-law Dolly Paquet, Laura Shoemaker and Bernice Sheehan. Yvette also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Predeceased by her dear husband George, parents Jacques & Clarisse Gallant (Mama & Papa Jacques), parents in law Charlie and Maggie Sheehan, and in-laws, Doreen Gallant, Bill Green, Paddy Cheverie, Lew Black, Freddy Paquet, Buddy (James) Sheehan, Melly Sheehan, and Tom Shoemaker and nieces and nephews Kristi Gallant, Cherie MacCormack, Phillippe Gallant and Merrill, Tommy and Carl Shoemaker.
Yvette’s quiet, kind and peaceful nature was felt in every room she entered. Her warm sense of humour always made everyone feel welcome and at ease. She lived her life with patience and compassion and she dedicated her life to others; her life revolved around family, faith, friendship and community. She touched the lives of so many with her quiet and caring ways. The family would like to thank everyone for their words of support and kind gestures during Moms brief illness and we especially want to thank the medical professionals who supported Mom and her family. We also owe so much gratitude to Souris Hospital. Yvette worked in the kitchen for 18 years prior to her retirement and the compassionate care she received from every level of staff during her recent stay at Souris Hospital is indescribable.
A visitation for family and friends will take place at Dingwell Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Souris with interment to follow in the St. Alexis Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Rollo Bay. All services are by invitation only. If so desired, donations in memory of Yvette can be made to the Eastern Kings Health Foundation (Souris Hospital) or the St. Alexis Cemetery Fund.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Yvette Marie Sheehan June 23rd 1940 July 1st 2021..
