WOODS Brian May 15 1952 — October 27 2021

WOODS, Brian
May 15, 1952 — October 27, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Brian Woods on October 27, 2021, at the age of 69.
Brian was born on May 15, 1952, in Burnaby, BC. He was the only child of Gladys (1918- 2012) and William “Bill” Woods (1912-1996). The family moved to Kelowna, BC in 1961 and Brian always considered the Okanagan his true home. He attended Glenmore Elementary, Dr. Knox High School and Cariboo College in Kamloops, BC. In 1976, Brian married the mother of his three children, Holly Woods. They moved to Glenrosa, and he started his career as Peachland’s Recreation Director. He took much pride in his work over the years as he named parks, hired lifeguards for Peachland’s Swim Bay and organized programs for all ages at the Peachland Community Centre and local sports fields.
Throughout his life, Brian had a passion for vintage cars and hot rods. He was the owner of Woody’s Street Rods and Restoration, where he excelled as a true creator and metal fabricator. His natural leadership qualities influenced the growth of the street rod culture in the Okanagan. Brian was an active member of the Kelowna Customs, Okanagan Rodtiques, and revived the Blossom Run which successfully ran for over 25 years. His passion for vehicles extended beyond cars, as he started a local chapter of the Tearjerkers Teardrop Trailer Club and BC CycleKart Chapter and hosted Canada’s first ever CycleKart Grand Prix. He loved spending time sharing stories and was always eager to organize driving tours, campouts, and racing events that would bring people together to share in his enthusiasm for life.
Brian loved his family and will be missed dearly. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandi Peters (17 years together), his children Levi (Koreen Heaver), Coby (Kati Shalevich, and his step-grandchild, Mayumi Kobayashi), and Kelsy; his extended family Stacey Coates (Morgan Coates) and Britt Palasz (Ben Palasz); and his grandchildren Aya & Sara, Emmalee & Aiden, Rayem & Eden. He always looked forward to the next project and lived his life to its fullest.
We love you dad.
Every ‘Canadian Margarita’ will be enjoyed in your honour!
We will hold a celebration of life for Brian in the spring. Details to follow.
